Gerald “Skid” Skidmore Sr., who covered Killeen-area news for more than four decades and retired as the Killeen Daily Herald’s managing editor in 1997, died on Thursday. He was 93. Skidmore, who also worked with the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce for over a decade, died from natural causes at The Rosewood Retirement Community in Killeen, where he was a resident, according to his family.
