The Killeen City Council will hear an update Tuesday from the Killeen Economic Development Corporation. The KEDC gives quarterly updates to the City Council on its progress in attracting new businesses to Killeen, as well as construction and hiring projects.

Business officials, city leaders and a Marine Corps Medal of Honor recipient were present during a groundbreaking ceremony Thursday at the Killeen Business Park.

More than 25 people from various businesses around the city gathered at a networking event hosted by AdventHealth-Central Texas at the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce building in downtown Killeen this week.

Hands were held high and the crowd cheered as the owner of Petty’s BBQ, Michael Grand, and his managing partner cut the red ribbon during a ceremony in downtown Killeen on Thursday.

The Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce held a ribbon-cutting ceremony on Thursday to celebrate Petty’s BBQ new renovated location at 510 Rancier Avenue and is ready to serve the Killeen area some of the finest BBQ around.

A company that sells emergency vehicles is setting up shop at the Killeen Business Park, according to a news release from the Killeen Chamber of Commerce. There will be a ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the event on Friday at 10 a.m. at 4901 Roy J. Smith Drive, part of the Killeen Business Park.

Another business is moving to downtown Killeen. Petty’s BBQ is moving to a new location and celebrating the occasion with a ribbon cutting later this week, officials said.

The list of visitors at Texas A&M University-Central Texas was long and distinguished as more than 200 guests gathered on the south Killeen campus for a groundbreaking ceremony of the new Centralized Operational Reliability and Efficiency — or CORE — building Thursday morning.

The Killeen Economic Development Corporation announced Tuesday the hire of Kelly Halsted, the new vice president of economic development.

More live music will soon be flowing from downtown Killeen as a new venue for blues and other bands will celebrate its grand opening this weekend.
