Transportation

Killeen has several transportation assets that you need to be aware of. 

  1. The Killeen-Fort Hood Regional Airport is served by three airlines and provides non-stop flights to Dallas, Houston and Atlanta. 
  2. US Highway 190 is multi-lane highway built to interstate standards.  Killeen is 20 miles away from I35.

Freight Carriers

The Santa Fe Railroad is a vital part of the history of Killeen.  In fact, the Greater Killeen Chamber of Commerce inhabits an office that is a former Santa Fe train depot. 

Killeen has grown significantly since its founding in 1882 by the Santa Fe Railroad to serve as a shipping station for cotton and cattle.

Killeen's location is easily accesible by ground also.  Several trucking companies have a presence in Killeein including Emery, United Parcels & Post, Federal Express, Central Freight Lines and NW Transport Services.

Public Transportation

Hill Country Transit District

The HOP, operated by Hill Country Transit District is Central Texas' Regional Public Transportation System. Fixed route and complementary paratransit public transportation service is provided in the Central Texas urban area. Rural public transportation is provided through a demand response system in the smaller communities within the nine-county transit district.
